A gathering to make larger Kogin?

◆I'm slowly starting to get back into action This weekend marks one year since I came to America. I've established a life base, and I'm finally able to have time on weekdays. So, I'm going to increase my kogin embroidery activities, which I've been putting on hold for the past year. It's still a rough outline, but I'll try to write down what I'm thinking about the Large Kogin Making Club (tentative name) .

◆ Larger Kogin Making Club (tentative)
I feel like I'm going to try my best to enjoy Kogin embroidery even more from now on!

・Scheduled start date : Around January 2025

・Purpose: To learn the flexibility of traditional Kogin embroidery patterns, feel its charm, learn the depth of Kogin embroidery, and enjoy Kogin embroidery even more.

·the goal:
1. Enjoy the traditional Kogin patterns. 2. Experience how an entire piece of fabric can be covered with traditional patterns even without preparing a design. 3. Try stitching a larger piece of fabric than you have ever embroidered before. 4. Relax your mind and relax your shoulders (it will be a great experience).

・Size of the fabric : Free. As long as it is a size that feels challenging to you, you can choose it freely (enjoy using your favorite threads, patterns, and types).
*If you don't know what to do, I'll be happy to give you as much advice as you want.

Reasons for starting this group :
I would like you to read this blog first. I have been doing Kogin embroidery for almost 10 years, and I have never had as much fun making the piece below. I did not make it without any thought, but after I was asked to do it, I let the image grow in my head for a while. I checked the size of the main pattern and how it would look when used as a blanket with several pieces of fabric in advance, and created it freely without having any answers. The main reason is that I want people to know that such a fun Kogin experience exists.

As you stitch based on the basic pattern, you will come across a point where it doesn't add up. When it doesn't add up, choose the next move from the basic pattern and go ahead with it. This continues for several steps, and before you know it, a new pattern has been born from the alignment. Patterns born from the traditional pattern will feel natural within the traditional pattern, and even the parts that feel distorted will become a little detached from the fabric, and after time has passed, you will feel a sense of expansion in your heart towards Kogin embroidery, thinking, "This is a nice thing too."
Being bound by the movements of traditional patterns is passive in a sense, but when a distortion occurs (when you can't proceed with a consistent rhythm or create a contrasting pattern), deciding your next move is active, and the pattern that emerges from that sequence of events may be moving. Having experienced it once before, I thought I might be able to help in some way, which is why I invited you to join us this time.

・We are currently thinking about how to proceed with the meeting . We conducted various surveys on Instagram, and we believe that some people want to enjoy the meeting quietly, while others want to enjoy it with more interaction. So, basically, we want everyone to enjoy it freely. However, we also want to provide a sense of security that when they are in trouble, they are not alone and can talk to someone.
I think having a purpose, goal, and deadline for the project will help you continue working on it until the end, so I would like to set these goals within reasonable limits. However, I would also like to be able to share the realizations and joys of the project when it is completed.

As you may have noticed from reading today's blog, nothing has been decided yet! I am eager to help everyone experience that same fun and joy! I may send out a survey to those who are considering joining in the future, and I may consult with them after we actually start the group, but I would like you to understand my stance in advance.

◆Finally, a notice about the sale of digital data patterns . We are thinking of selling what is possible with the kits we have sold so far as digital data patterns. We will decide on the designs taking into account our past sales record, but if you have any requests, please feel free to contact us.
*We regret to inform you that we do not plan to sell the book cover kit as a digital design.

We appreciate your continued support.
