Kogin Circle 2025[12]

◆ Kogin Circle 2025[12] July Activity Introduction
Due to children's summer vacation and temporary return to Japan, the number of questions shared in July and August decreased. On the other hand, there were nine collaborative posts in the past two months, and it was a hot summer in which everyone's progress and finished products were exciting to see.
The circle account is scheduled to close on December 14th, but the number of members has actually been gradually increasing, and currently stands at around 126. As the end approaches, some people have messaged and commented saying things like, "I haven't been able to do much Kogin embroidery," or "I haven't been able to participate in the circle much," but I don't think that's a problem at all. I believe that all the time I spend every day without a needle, such as reading, looking at other people's work, cleaning, and cooking, will be fully reflected in my work when I express it in Kogin embroidery. If you love Kogin embroidery, that's all that matters!

◆Things shared on circle accounts in JulyIn July, there were two question sharings, but there were also three co-posts.Once you've done a co-post, I think the hurdles are lowered all at once, and when other people leave comments, you can discover charms and fun aspects of your work that you didn't see on your own, so if you want to try a co-post but don't have the courage, feel free to just post. This is also a private account for that purpose.

[022] Questions from members (July 19th)
I think Kogin embroidery is done by stitching using the fabric vertically, but would it be better if I embroidered horizontally? This is a small problem for me, as I like to embroider plum blossoms horizontally.
Sometimes I wonder what the definition of Kogin embroidery is.
Basically, if you sew in odd numbers, combine modoko stitches, and sew vertically, you can call it Kogin embroidery.
▶The member who commented here provided a clear explanation about Nanbu diamond embroidery, including whether it is a full embroidery or a separate pattern, and I think that not only the questioner but also the other members learned something. It's the ideal circle structure, isn't it? Thank you.

[023] Questions from members (July 20th)
I don't know how much tension to pull the thread with. It may be a matter of intuition, but I'd like to know if there are any tips. Thank you in advance.
▶As a similar question was asked before, it's nice to hear the perspective of fellow Kogin embroiderers when it comes to discussing these technical aspects, rather than struggling alone. I also commented on this question, but it may be important to take it easy with both your mind and the thread.

As we have announced, this circle will be ending on December 14th. Although there is only about a month left, there is still a lot we can do (including cultivating the motivation to create works for next year), so let's have fun!
