Kogin Circle 2025[1]

◆ Kogin Circle 2025[1]
Thank you to everyone who expressed their intention to join the circle. We have also received questions about the design of the work, so we would like to share them here. After we start using the circle's Instagram account, we plan to share questions there as well. If you have already shared your experience or your own method, we would appreciate it if you could let us know by email or Instagram message. We welcome any method, whether it be visually with pictures or photos, or just text.

◆ Please provide your experience in answering questions.
Below are the questions we received.

"I've never stitched together Modoko by myself before, so I can't take the first step. I'm not sure if I should stitch a large Modoko at first. I'd be grateful if you could tell me the general process."

Thank you for your question. What should I do?
Two years ago, when koginbank handed me a large piece of fabric and thread, saying, "We'll leave the design up to you. We'd like you to embroider it all over," I was left with a blank stare. I think this is a common question for those who are trying to work with a large piece of fabric for the first time, or those who are putting together a pattern for the first time, so I'm looking forward to any advice you can give, even if it's not a complete answer. I've been through this myself, so I'll share my experience with you at a later date. (Please wait a moment.)

◆About the design
As we received various questions, we realized that many of the participants and those considering participating had questions about design and patterns, so we would like to share them again. We felt that by repeatedly saying "traditional patterns...", we were putting a brake on everyone's creativity and imagination. We apologize if we made you feel restricted in that way. That was not our intention at all. We hope that by sharing the purpose of this circle again, you will be able to expand your imagination in the direction we are aiming for.

[Purpose] To learn the possibilities and depth of traditional patterns and enjoy Kogin embroidery even more in the future.
*If possible, I would like you to try Kogin embroidery on the largest piece of fabric you have ever made, and experience the surprise of realizing that even a large piece of fabric may not be wide enough (or you may want to try something even larger)!

As long as you achieve the above objectives, you're free to design as you like!
I will not be providing any designs, but I will do my best to provide ideas and support based on my experience. Some of the participants already have experience with large-scale works, and some have created their own designs, so I hope they will take this opportunity to share their experiences with us!

You can freely choose the design yourself. (Please express your ideas on the fabric!)
▶︎You can also use it like a Modoko sampler
▶︎Designs based on old Kogin are also OK
▶︎You can also use old designs that are available for sale.
The point is, as long as you enjoy traditional patterns, you can do whatever you like! The important thing is that you get motivated, so don't be tied down and just have fun!

"Even so, what should I do?" "I can't take that first step!" You may be wondering these things, so please don't keep it to yourself and ask questions. Let's solve the problem together as circle members! If you have any questions, please feel free to let us know by email or Instagram message.

Information on how to join a circle and circle accounts will be provided on 2/1 (2/1-2/2 Japan time).
