Recommended craft stores in Hirosaki
◆Recommended Kogin embroidery shops and materials in Hirosaki
We received a question from a person planning a trip to Hirosaki about recommended materials and shops in Hirosaki. Since we had the chance, we would like to share it here. Each material has its own characteristics, and the materials you want to use will change depending on what you are making and the atmosphere you want to create.

With the above in mind, Satonobo's personal recommendations continue below.
[Tsukiya]
Recommended fabrics
・New Congress (cotton): Light and easy to stitch. For details, see the blog.
・Asana 252 (Asana): A simple texture and calm color are also attractive. For details, please see the blog.
・Fancy Hessian (rayon-mixed linen): It has a coarse texture and is interesting in that it has a different presence from other fabrics. For details , see the blog .
Recommended thread : Tsugaru Kogin thread (8 strands/10 strands): The thread has just the right strength and a subdued luster, and the finished product will look elegant. It is comfortable to stitch with both types of fabric. It comes in a wide variety of red and green colors.

Since it is a handicraft store, they sell a variety of items other than materials for Kogin embroidery. I always stop by this store when I go back to Aomori, and the staff are always kind. The moderate lighting and retro fixtures in the store make me forget about the Reiwa era in a good way.

Recommended fabrics
・Kogin Dowel/Tsugaru (linen): The grain is easy to see. For details, see the blog .
・Perry Pull (cotton): Light and easy to stitch. For details , see the blog.
Recommended thread
- Persimmon tannin dyed thread : Compared to smooth threads, this thread is not very smooth, but we recommend it for its indescribable texture.

I've been to the store a few times, but I always buy materials online. I'm impressed with the attractive offers of threads that aren't specifically for Kogin embroidery, such as persimmon-dyed thread and small rolls of CafeDemi (medium-fine yarn), and the detailed introduction of each material is very helpful. They also carry fabrics from Daruma, DMC, Zweigart, and other brands, so I think it's a fun store to expand your range of Kogin embroidery materials.

I've only been to the store a few times, but I buy materials at events and through mail order. It's also great that they sell the works of other artists.
◆Recommended restaurants
[Curry & Coffee Kawashima]
This is a curry restaurant recommended by my husband, who is from Hirosaki, and I go there with my family when we visit my hometown. When I visited before, there were framed Kogin embroidery works and tapestries on display, so I would recommend it to people who like Kogin embroidery and curry. Even the regular portion of curry is quite large, but strangely enough, I finished it all in no time. Lol Depending on the season, it may be sold out.
[CAFÉ JEEBA]
The last time I went there was a few years ago, but it's a great place to take a break after a long walk and see the banks of the river. When I went there, no one was smoking, but please check for yourself whether smoking is permitted.
I started Kogin embroidery after leaving Aomori, so I may not be up to date on the latest information about Kogin embroidery in Aomori Prefecture, but I hope you will find it useful.
